Hump Day PSA: Be Kind to Your Skin!
Makeup should not be a replacement for good skincare. There are lots of people out there who think that piling on cosmetics can make up (pun intended!) for the fact that their skincare routine is lackluster (not unlike their own skin) or worse, practically nonexistent. Please. Stop. The. Madness.
Remember, if you're willing to invest in quality makeup and makeup accessories, please don't neglect the canvas that is your face. Cleanse, moisturize, treat, and protect it first before you go crazy trying to decorate it ;) Makeup products, trends, fads, etc. are a dime a dozen; you only have one gorgeous face, however, so treat and nourish it consistently while you still can. It's never too late to improve your skincare habits...so stop the facial neglect, stat!
This PSA has been brought to you by the letter K. Be KIND to your skin. Also, be beautifully blessed today and everyday...

Happy 4th of July! Here’s to the red, white, and blue...eyeliner review ;)
Product: Ardency Inn Modster Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner

What it is: A creamy, waterproof eyeliner supercharged with pure pigments.
What is does: The soft and creamy formula of Modster Eyeliner glides on
effortlessly, allows enough time for blending, then sets to a
long-lasting finish that won’t budge. The formula is soft enough to
glide-on easily yet firm enough to draw thin, precise lines. The
pigment level has been maxed out to achieve a color payoff that is
second to none.
This is my first time using a product by Ardency Inn, a relative newcomer to the cosmetics industry. They make “...high performance makeup for women who rock--on and off the stage.” This product line merges an edgy, punk, urban NY vibe with a sophisticated twist on rocker chic. Ardency Inn offers a full range of makeup to suit a plethora of color palettes as well as skin tones. You can check www.sephora.com for more details.
I’ve been using this eyeliner off and on for the past two weeks now; for the most part, I am surprisingly pleased with it. The color is vibrant and rich, even with a single application across the lids. As you can see from the picture above, one swipe yields beautiful results. Two swipes make the color more intense, while smudging it quickly turns it into a stay-put eyeshadow. As a side note, I would still use a tried and true eyelid primer such as Shadow Insurance by Too Faced cosmetics ($20 at www.sephora.com) or my perennial favorite, Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre by MAC ($20 at www.maccosmetics.com). The latter suits my yellow undertones perfectly so I rarely stray from it; however, Painterly and Bare Study play nicely with other complexions, as well. Remember, eyelid primers are non negotiable when eye makeup is involved so choose carefully the base on which to build everything else on.
But I digress.
This eyeliner has almost ten shades to choose from--everything from a dreamy vanilla cream (which I imagine will perfectly rim my waterline for larger, brighter eyes) to the turquoise one I’m currently using (a summer staple color if I ever saw one)! It doesn’t skip, pull, or tug when applied; it sharpens easily with a standard eye pencil sharpener. The texture is wonderful; it’s not overly creamy or hard, it’s just right. It’s what you would imagine an eyeliner should feel like, because that’s not always the case (I’m talking to you, cheap pencils who make my eyelids feel like beavers are gnawing at them!). Plus it doesn’t break or crumble like many other eyeliner pencils out there...always a pleasant surprise :)
Ardency Inn’s Supercharged Eyeliner is relatively full of “proofs”--waterproof, sweat-proof, and smudge-proof. I say relatively because while it is waterproof (you must use an oil-based eye makeup remover to take it off), it only applies to water/rain or tears. I find that sweat/excessive facial oil causes it to smudge a little (which in the summer heat is no biggie--just tap it around with a finger or makeup brush and rock that unintentional smoky eye with pride!) but the bright color still stays true throughout the day. From personal experience, this product lasts between eight to twelve hours, which definitely makes it an all-day wear eyeliner. It’s on the higher end of mid-priced liners because it isn’t a drugstore brand; it’s comparably priced to Urban Decay’s 24/7 eyeliners (and works as well as if not better than UD!), also sold by Sephora.
Full disclosure: I purchased this product from www.ipsy.com as a limited edition duo set (it came with a big, gray eyeshadow pencil) for $19. I’m only reviewing this eyeliner for now because I haven’t had a chance to use the eyeshadow stick yet.
Pros: Waterproof, summer-ready, no-fuss eyeliner
Cons: Profuse sweating smudges the product and can cause some color migration

Ms. Makeup Maven’s Yay, Nay, or Just Stay Away: a cautious yay (I say cautious because it does smudge a little with sweat/oil but other than that it’s a great summer find)!
Now, go and get your beauty on...
